Exploring Mount Douglas (PKOLS), Victoria

Last Sunday, September 17th, I decided to explore the trails at Mount Douglas Park. The traditional SENĆOŦEN name being PKOLS (Mount Douglas Park). In SENĆOŦEN, the name PKOLS means “White head” or “White rock.” I had visited the park once before during the previous school year since it was the easiest place to get to without a vehicle and is sadly not a close bus ride for me. Instead of hiking to the top, I opted for a longer trail around the mountain to discover a new path, and to explore new trails and parts of the park I had yet to see.
The trail I took was so beautiful, with lush green parts and some dryer, more open areas. I took a picture of a beautiful tree that was very popular on the trail. the bark of the tree was so smooth, and it the existing bark or skin had a shedding effect. From what I discovered through the helping hand of Google, it was a Pacific Madrone (Arbutus Meniesii)

While walking and hiking I’ve tried to explore new music, artists, and playslists that I think I would enjoy. I discovered a new artist this last Sunday, Called Novo Amor. He has a very calming and enjoyable sound to him. My favourite song is his most popular, Anchor, from the album Bathing Beach. I would absolutely recommend a listen if you enjoy soft music!

Thanks for reading this week’s post, hope you enjoyed it!
