This weekend I am back in my hometown of Penticton BC, located in the Okanagan on the Sylix Okanagan Lands. About a 45-minute drive up in the mountains is Apex Mountain Resort, our local Ski hill resort. My family and I have very fortunately had our cabin up Apex for 5 years.

On top of skiing, tubing, skating, and more, hiking is very popular. There are so many different hiking and walking trails around the mountain and resort. The most popular one for my family is the Keremeous Creek Canyon Loop. It is a normal hiking trail during the spring-fall season, and a snowshoe trail in the winter because of the high volume of snow on the trail. From our cabin, only a 10-minute walk from one of the entrances, the trail loops around about 3kms.

These are some photos and videos from different times we’ve taken this hike before. Although there isn’t too much incline to the loop, the snowy hills, fallen trees and the different passing creeks make it a more complex hike. I find that most commonly I walk this hike on Sunday mornings after I hear my mom calling “Mai, wake up let’s go hike the loop”, and I would much rather continue to sleep at that moment, but it is always worth it to wake up and start the day off with a snowy hike. Apex is a beautiful mountain full of many hikes and activities, and I am so fortunate to be a part of this community.
