I explored more east of Finlayson Point this week, at Trafalgar Park Victoria! Trafalgar Park is a Small park on the ocean composed of a small staged series of rocks and a rock beach. Trafalgar Park is located in the Songhees Nation and is the ancestors of the Lekwungen-speaking First Nations.
After doing more research, I found that Trafalgar Point has a First Nations monument located at the top of the lookout. This monument is one of 8 different First Nations monuments. Other locations include Willows Beach (Sitchanalth) Monument, McNeill Bay (Chikawich) Monument, and Harling Point (Sahsima) Monument. I stumbled across this website for Locating the First Nations Monuments around Oak Bay, and have linked it here! This particular plaque depicts deer and camas plants which have been important First Nations food for mill

This is particularly small, as it is only a quick path down some stairs to the waterfront. I also had my friend in town visiting me, so we continued our walk over to the next beach Gonzalas Beach, along side and around the beautiful waterfront home located in this neighbourhood.
These are some of the photos and videos I took while exploring the viewpoint and park!

It was so beautiful out, and the perfect sunny weather for the colder temperatures we have been having! I’m excited to see what other lookouts and historical areas I can find throughout Oak Bay, and around Victoria!
