Sadly, today is our last reflection post for this class. However, today is an entertaining and exciting class as we have our coding and gamification presentations in the classroom.

The first podcast presentation was about Teacher influencers and how they navigate social media. They discussed all the different ways teachers more and more are finding social media for education. They touched on how there are many struggles, and how it can be tricky. There are tools and a way to make sure you are ensuring safety for themselves as the teachers, as well as the students.

Our podcast went second, we discussed how teachers can use technology for learning and mindfulness and how these tools can be implemented in classrooms. We chose to use a podcast method. I will have more information below.

The third group to go was a podcast and video presentation on Movement and Technology: How to use technology to assist in movement breaks. They had all found different resources and cardio-type activities in the classroom. They researched and talked about different benefits, limitations, what they can be used for, goals, and toolkits for different resources that they can use in their classroom, how they can assist teachers, and what teachers need to be mindful of.

The fourth group chose the topic of technology use for different learning disabilities and their benefits. They chose this topic from a personal level of helping students with learning disabilities. Technology is used for all learners, not just specifically students with learning disabilities. They had created a podcast as well.

The fifth group presentation and podcast was on the topic of “Gamification” the use of games in education and the huge world of game technology for your classroom resources. They touched on a deeper level of different game resources. I had not heard of this “Gamification” term before, so I thought this was very important.

Finally, the sixth group talked about movies and screen time in the classroom effectively. They also made a podcast as well. Their question was, Is it ethical for teachers to lean into screen time in class? their three components were based on screen time, critical thinking skills, and the blue light effects.

I wanted to touch base about how we found the process of doing our research and creating our podcast. We began by meeting as a group and deciding how we would each choose a small topic around integrating technology for learning and mindfulness. I chose the “Gamification” topics, as I’ve personally used a lot of different games in a classroom setting.

Our group then decided we would each prepare our different topics and how the podcast conversation would go. We chose to each talk about something, more of a script, rather than a conversation. We couldn’t find a good time to meet up of, so half of us met and each recorded our sections on Voice Memos – the voice recording app that Apple products provide. The rest of the group just sent me their voice memos. I then created our podcast on iMovie, as I have had a lot of experience using and editing with this app. Overall I think that these presentations and topics were very interesting to listen to and hear about.

I’ve included my group podcast on how teachers can use technology for learning and mindfulness and how these tools can be implemented in classrooms. In my group was Lauren, Sophie S, Sarah, Mia, Kennedy, and myself!

Hope you can have a quick listen to our podcast!
